ANZLIC web site privacy statement

This statement applies to users' interactions with ANZLIC—the Spatial Information Council (ANZLIC) Web Site at <>.


The ANLZIC site makes some use of data that directly or indirectly identifies users. We do not use any personal information for any purposes which are not related to the services we provide to you via this site. ANZLIC welcomes feedback from users in relation to this site's design and practices, and to this privacy statement.

data collection

Data, that in some way identifies the user, is gathered during interactions with the ANZLIC web site in the following circumstances:

Computer information

As part of visiting any web site, including the ANZLIC site, the user’s web browser provides the machine’s identity (its IP address) to the web server, so that the server can address the reply to the correct machine. In addition, the browser-type and operating system are provided.


Browsing any web site, including the ANZLIC site, generates a trail of the pages that are visited and the time apparently spent displaying each page. This statistical information is used to monitor our web site and to make decisions on site enhancements. The information collected by our web server consists of the following—number of visitors to our web site, date and time of visits, type of web browser and regular traffic patterns.

Online forms

ANZLIC has online forms that collect voluntary information from our users. This information is used for the purposes of providing users with products and services as requested. It also assists us to improve services to our clients and individuals who want to work with us.

We will not supply your personal information to any third party without your permission. If we consider another person within the ANZLIC community, other than those in the ANZLIC national office, is in a better position to respond to your request then we will advise you of this. Alternatively, if you have provided specific permission to do so we will on provide the information that relates only to your request.

User feedback

ANZLIC welcomes feedback from our users in order to improve the service offered by the site.

data storage

All personal data described in the previous section is stored securely. The data is used by ANZLIC site software, and by staff at the ANZLIC national office, only for the:

  • provision of services and products as requested;
  • on provision of a request to a third party only where specifically authorised by the user;
  • web site and system administration, including monitoring to prevent security breaches;
  • customisation of web site to the user's needs; and
  • evaluation, research and development.


The staff located in the ANZLIC national office who operate the ANZLIC site are subject to the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988.
