partnerships with local government

ANZLIC formed a strategic partnership with the Australian Local Government Association (ALGA) in August 2003. ALGA is a federation of State and Territory local governments, representing over 700 Councils within Australia.

The aim of this partnership is to:

  • to jointly raise awareness, communication and cooperation amongst local governments and between levels of government on spatial information issues.
  • investigate and build on initiatives at State/Territory level for data access, common map bases, data sharing and international best practice.
  • develop joint projects where both local governments and the spatial information industry can build capacity to meet local needs.
