work program 2003-2004

Following is the work program for the period 2003-2004. The work items listed reflect the overall priorities set by the Council for this period. Council members, standing committees, working groups, national office, jurisdictions or contractors will undertake these activities as appropriate.

1.

Support efficient operation of ANZLIC

 

Provide a national office.
 

Manage all aspects of ANZLIC business operations.
 

Manage meeting cycles for Council, standing committees and other bodies convened by ANZLIC.
 

Cooperate with jurisdictions and other bodies in organising special events sponsored by ANZLIC.
 

Manage reporting responsibilities between ANZLIC-related bodies.
 

Produce the ANZLIC Annual Report.

2.

Implement NLWRA recommendations and partnership arrangements for natural resources information

 

Liaise with relevant national bodies to assist formation of partnerships, joint projects and reporting for natural resources information.
 

Undertake investigations, research and consultation for ANZLIC sponsored projects arising from the recommendations.
 

Prepare best practice guidelines in partnership with NLWRA and LWA.

3.

Implement the Australian Spatial Data Infrastructure

 

Facilitate implementation of the ASDI Action Plan.
 

Facilitate and coordinate communication between ASDI stakeholders (including an SADI national workshop series).
 

Develop policy frameworks and guidelines to meet identified user needs.

4.

Support the implementation of the Spatial Information Industry Action Agenda

 

Work with the Industry Joint Steering Committee to implement the Spatial Information Industry Action Agenda.
 

Develop and maintain relationships with SI industry bodies.
 

Undertake investigations, research and consultation for ANZLIC sponsored projects.

5.

Form stronger coordination arrangements and communication with users of spatial information

 

Encourage formation of strong intra-jurisdictional coordinating arrangements involving both sources and users of spatial information.
 

Develop a structured program to identify, communicate and form partnerships with relevant peak national bodies representing users of spatial information (counter terrorism, emergency management, socio-economic and infrastructure are priorities).
 

Develop reporting arrangements to cover areas of common interest between ANZLIC and these national bodies.
 

Implement the ANZLIC Outreach and Promotional program (including publications, online communication, presentations and briefings).

6.

Facilitate land administration reform

 

Identify needs and opportunities at national level.
